The Baobab is an impressive tree: with a height of up to 25 meters, the branches form a roof with more than 20 meters in diameter
– the tree itself maybe several thousand years old.

The Baobab tree is an icon of African Savanna, and provides clothing, rope, shelter, food and water for both the animal and human community of the African savannah regions.

Pronounced ‘Bay-o-bab’

The Baobab tree, produces hard fruit with soft and nutritious pulp inside the shell. The fruit is around 7 inches and 3 pounds in weight. It has a hard shell like a coconut. We select only the largest baobab trees to pick the fruit from as these give the most nutritious baobab powder.

The Baobab fruit is the only fruit that naturally dehydrates on the branch on its own and in its shell, with no heat or pasturisation needed.

The fruit pulp extracted from the hard pods is used to produce a raw powder that offers a high micronutrient profile.

Our Baobab powder is exceptionally rich in vitamin C and is high in antioxidant properties. One of the most significant benefits of vitamin C is that it protects the cells from free radical damage, as well as contributing to collagen formation which is important for skin.

Collagen is in the skin naturally, it is what gives the skin a firm texture and keeps it soft and supple. Unfortunately collagen production depletes as we age, so our skin, in particular on our face, loosens and looses its elasticity, freshness and glow, enabling lines and wrinkles to take shape. Collagen can ‘plump out’ and firm the skin, making lines appear more shallow and reduces the signs of ageing.

  • Vitamin C, which is involved in collagen synthesis, is a great ingredient to help boost the synthesis of collagen in the skin.

Baobab powder can be used as a health supplement and as a delicious food ingredient. The powder of the fruit is a natural superfood that is particularly concentrated with an array of minerals.

Baobab’s nutrients contribute to the protection of oxidative stress.

“Oxidative stress is essentially an imbalance between the production of free radicals and the ability of the body to counteract or detoxify their harmful effects through neutralization by antioxidants.” News Medical Life Sciences –
